In Motion: The African-American Migration Experience Documents 400 years of migrations

The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, a research unit of The New York Public Library, is generally recognized as one of the leading institutions of its kind in the world. For over 80 years the Center has collected, preserved, and provided access to materials documenting black life, and promoted the study and interpretation of the history and culture of peoples of African descent.

New York Public Library Board of Trustees Approves Construction of Additional Book Storage at Landmark 42nd Street Building

The New York Public Library’s Board of Trustees today approved the development of 30,000 square feet of additional collections storage at its landmark 42nd Street building, creating a space that can properly preserve approximately 1.5 million volumes.
