On June 2, 1886, President Grover Cleveland marries 21-year-old Frances Folsom in the White House. Although it is one of many notable events during Cleveland's first term as President, the marriage is surprising as most people thought President Cleveland would marry Frances' mother, Emma. The White House wedding was the beginning point for the only non-consecutive two-term presidency that addressed numerous issues, including tariff reform, labor conflict, westward expansion and a financial panic.
