Important Dates:
- 1867: George Pullman established his company (Pullman Palace Car Co.)
- 1894: Railroad workers reacted to wage cuts by going on strike and joined the American Railway Union led by Eugene V. Debs
- 1898: The Illinois Supreme Court forced the Pullman Company to divest ownership in company town, which was annexed to Chicago.
- 1898: After Pullman's death Robert Todd Lincoln, son of President Abraham Lincoln became company president
- 1900: Company reorganizes as the Pullman Co.
