What Los Alamos gets done as a premier national security science laboratory depends on how we do it

The Laboratory’s operations and business systems ensure the safe, secure, and efficient performance of our national security mission. Our teamwork and approach to problem solving have resulted in new systems, tools, and processes to ensure continuous improvement throughout the organization.

Safety: In recognition of significant safety improvements, we received Merit-level recognition in 2010 from the U.S. Department of Energy as part of its Voluntary Protection Program.

Security: The Lab has increased the rigor of both physical and information security assets.

Environment: Our environmental stewardship commitment is focused on cleaning up contamination from the past, minimizing current operational impacts, and creating a sustainable future.

Infrastructure and Facilities: Given the complexity of the 36-square mile campus with more than 1,200 buildings, the Lab places significant emphasis on reducing its structural footprint, modernizing infrastructure, and providing employees with safe, energy-efficient facilities.
