Dayton

The Birthplace of Aviation is a town known for its history of innovation and its commitment to excellence in the industries of healthcare, business, and technology. Wilbur and Orville Wright built their first powered plane in Dayton and their role in aviation history is commemorated at Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park. Just eight miles north of Dayton, Ohioans can see how far aviation has come in the last century at the spectacular Vectren Dayton Air Show which takes place every July.

Visitors can appreciate America’s Air Force service members at the National Museum of the United States Air Force. Just a couple miles away is Wright- Patterson Air Force Base, one of the largest Air Base wings in the country. With a staff of 27,000, Wright-Patterson is a driving force of the Dayton economy, providing critical services for our defense and national security interests.  

Dayton is also famous for its premier health care networks and top educational institutions. Dayton is home to two universities; University of Dayton and Wright State University. University of Dayton has received much acclaim as one of the top ten Catholic Universities in the country while Wright State University is known as a leader in Biomedical Research.
