Senator Schumer is committed to helping New Yorkers as part of his work as U.S. Senator. At times, the federal government can be a daunting bureaucracy for those who need its help or have a problem that needs solving. Senator Schumer and his staff are dedicated to answering your questions about federal agencies, their policies and procedures, and assisting you with problems you may be having.

Senator Schumer is able to provide assistance to you if you are a resident of New York, AND your problem is with a federal government agency. If you are not from New York, please contact one of your Senators. Any inquiries you send to my office will automatically be forwarded by my office to one or both of the Senators from your state.

If your inquiry is related to a judicial matter -- a matter involving a court, such as child custody, divorce, a civil lawsuit or criminal prosecution or sentencing -- the constitutional separation of powers does not permit my office to intercede, and you may wish to contact the New York Bar Association for help finding a qualified lawyer.

If you are planning to visit our nation's capital, my office can attempt to arrange tours and tickets to some of this city's fascinating sites. Because these services are very popular, we typically require a five to six week notice and there are no guarantees.continue reading

This year, Chuck’s office received nearly 1,500 requests from communities and organizations across New York. Chuck and his staff are reviewing these requests and will submitting some of them to the various appropriations sub-committees. Unfortunately, many worthy projects will not be submitted and not all of those submitted will receive funding. Our country is facing tough economic times and Chuck knows that, just like families across New York, the federal government must make choices as well. continue reading
