- Today at PPL’s Emergency Command Center in Allentown, I met with PPL CEO Bill Spence to review efforts to restore power to those affected by Hurricane Sandy. I will continue to work closely with PPL and state and federal authorities to ensure timely disaster relief. They play a key role in commercial construction, infrastructure development and residential building throughout south central Pennsylvania.
- I toured Thermacore today, a national defense company in Lancaster. They are true innovators - and very concerned with Washington's excessive regulations.
- I visited the Army Heritage Education Center in Carlisle today to announce my bill, the Joint Military Heritage Preservation Act of 2012. It initiates a Defense Department study on the development of a joint Army-Navy archival facility here in Carlisle. Currently, documents stored at the Navy History and Heritage Command in D.C. are endangered due to poor facilities.
- In Montgomery County today, District Attorney Risa Ferman and I talked about a new IRS pilot program that allows Pennsylvania law officers to more aggressively pursue perpetrators of tax fraud. This will enable greater cooperation between victims, local law enforcement and the IRS in bringing identity thieves to justice.
