Senator James Webb Visits the Arlington County Detention Facility

March 5, 2010 - Senator Webb receives a tour of the Arlington County Detention Facility


U.S. Senator James Webb visited the Arlington County Detention Facility for a briefing and tour to learn about the Jail diversionary, re-entry, educational and life skills programs available to inmates.  Sheriff Beth Arthur presented an overview of the Detention Facility and the various programs offered during incarceration.  Ms. Cindy Kemp, Division Chief, Department of Human Services (DHS) outlined the diversionary programs jointly coordinated by DHS and the Sheriff’s Office.  One of the programs highlighted works to divert individuals to programs in lieu of incarceration which Senator Webb was instrumental in obtaining funding.

“We welcomed the opportunity to highlight the Arlington County Detention Facility and our partnership with the Department of Human Services in assisting incarcerated individuals.” stated Sheriff Beth Arthur, “We appreciate Senator Webb’s interest in our operations and the programs that assist individuals re-enter the communities better prepared.”
