Statement of Sen. Webb Regarding Progress on Dulles Metrorail Extension

Washington, DC—The following is a statement from Senator Jim Webb (D-VA) regarding final design approval notification regarding the Dulles Metrorail Extension project:

“I want to extend my great appreciation to Secretary Peters and Governor Kaine for their commitment over the past few months to ensuring the viability of this significant transportation project.  We are in a much different place than we were at the start of this year, and this news bodes well for the people and communities of Northern Virginia.

“There are still hurdles to overcome, but I have renewed confidence that the project is headed in the right direction.

“The Metrorail extension to Dulles is a crucial infrastructure project in terms of alleviating traffic in one of the most heavily congested regions in the country and spurring significant economic development.  I intend to continue to work closely with my colleagues in Congress and in Virginia government to work toward a successful outcome for the Dulles rail extension project.”
