(Washington DC) – U.S. Senator Dean Heller (R-NV) responded to the September unemployment numbers released by the Department of Labor today.

“Any increase in job numbers is welcome news, but this anemic growth is not enough for Nevada. Families and businesses in our state are hurting and desperate for real recovery.

“Another month and we still don’t have the growth we need. Unemployment is well above the eight percent rate that this Administration promised when promoting the stimulus bill. Like I suggested to President Obama, we need to provide businesses and individuals with a long-term jobs plan that reforms the tax code, reins in governments spending and stops Washington over-regulation,” Senator Heller said.

According to the Department of Labor Bureau Statistics, nonfarm payroll employment increased by 103,000 in September, and the unemployment rate remained at 9.1 percent. The increase in employment includes the return to payrolls of about 45,000 telecommunications workers who had been on strike in August.
