Jerusalem Post: US senator focuses on trading resources with Israel
Landrieu, a democrat from Louisiana, was speaking at the 2012 Israel Energy and Business Convention in Ramat Gan's Kfar Hamaccabiah, where she was also leading a US Commerce Department oil and gas trade commission trip representing about 20 companies in the Gulf region. Last year, Landrieu piloted the US's first-ever oil and gas trade commission to Israel under the auspices of the Louisiana Trade Mission.

"On average, between $4 billion and $6 billion per year leaves this community, and Grand Isle, and all of our communities in severance and royalty taxes that the operators pay on barrel of oil and cubic foot of gas that they take out. It's a huge amount of money, and the sad thing is that Louisiana and our communities don't see a penny of that money. It all goes into the federal treasury," Landrieu said.

Shreveport Times: Summit helps teach people how to find investors
Landrieu, who hosted the summit Thursday morning in the Opelousas Civic Center, wants it to turn into a regular way to help new businesses in smaller Louisiana communities. "This is the first of what I hope will be at least a semi-annual gathering that will bring together universities and mayors as economic developers and incubators in our state to help coordinate better strategies for better businesses and growth," the Louisiana Democrat said.

The Times-Picayune: Latest federal Katrina funding goes to Sewerage & Water Board
In the latest influx of federal aid for Hurricane Katrina, the Federal Emergency Management Agency released $37 million this week for the New Orleans Sewerage and Water Board. The money will help fund remaining repairs for damage to the city's sewerage and water system caused by the storm and failed federal levees.

New Orleans City Business: FAA Provides $1.8M To Update Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport Master Plan
The money from the Federal Aviation Administration will go toward Armstrong's goal of becoming a "world-class airport" by New Orleans' 300th anniversary in 2018, according to a news release from Sen. Mary Landrieu's office that detailed $7.7 million in FAA spending on Louisiana airports.
