  4. November is National Adoption Month— a time to raise awareness of the 100,000 children in foster care currently waiting to be adopted and to finalize adoptions in the United States. As an adoptive parent, I’ve experienced the joy of building our family through adoption and am a proud advocate of connecting children without a family to permanent and loving parents.

  6. I helped break ground today on a new covered horse ring at Equest Farm in New Orleans City Park. The project is part of a post-Katrina effort to transform Equest Farm into a premier regional destination for horse shows, fundraisers and community events. Equest Farm is helping place City Park at the top of urban parks in America.

  8. Yesterday, I met with students at Iberville Parish Academy West. The Academy focuses on STEM (Science & Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education with an emphasis on distance learning. These classrooms are the future of education in Louisiana.
