As a strong pro-family advocate, I am thrilled to see this outbreak of interest in family history. As they discover their heritage, millions of families are growing closer and becoming stronger. This is why for years I have introduced and helped pass legislation that designates October as "Family History Month".

Researching ancestry is a very important component of identity. And with more than 80 million Americans actively searching for more information about their ancestors, family history research has become our nation's second-most popular hobby.
