    •  The last three Presidents we have elected have broken this law. The worst offender in my opinion was George Bush II. We are not supposed to go to war without a declaration of war by Congress. This law outlines what the commander in chief is allowed to do with our armed forces without an Declaration of War. The young folks should read this. We need to stop being the UN's bully/instrument of peace, and obey our own laws for once. http://www.loc.gov/law/help/war-powers.php

  3. As Hurricane Sandy arrives in DC, we are joining other federal agencies in again CLOSING all Library of Congress buildings tomorrow, Tuesday, Oct. 30, and canceling all scheduled events. Once again, please stay indoors ... and stay safe.
  4. Along with other DC federal agencies, all Library of Congress buildings will be CLOSED tomorrow, Monday, Oct. 29, and all scheduled events CANCELED due to the expected hazardous weather from Hurricane Sandy.
