Purpose: To renovate space at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD to accommodate the Vision Center of Excellence.
Importance: This Center would improve care for the growing number of wounded troops with penetrating direct eye trauma and/or TBI-related visual complications by focusing on the prevention, diagnosis, mitigation, treatment and rehabilitation of military eye injuries; implementing a Defense and Veterans Eye Injury Registry; and coordinating care and benefits between DoD and VA.
