Information for veterans regarding stop-loss payment

Congress authorized special compensation for service members whose tours of duty were involuntarily extended under stop-loss between Sept. 11, 2001 and Sept. 30, 2009. I proudly supported this bipartisan provision.
Eligible service members, veterans or beneficiaries can receive $500 in retroactive stop-loss special pay for every month served in stop-loss status, but claims must be submitted before the Oct. 21, 2012 deadline.
