Udall Welcomes $1.25 Million Competitive Grant to Assist Colorado Veterans in Finding, Securing Jobs
Mark Udall welcomed the U.S. Department of Labor’s decision today to award the Colorado Department of Labor $1.25 million in competitive grant funds to assist veterans in obtaining the training and support they need to enter the private sector workforce.
“Our veterans are among the very best human resources our state has to offer the private sector,” Udall said. “These grant funds will provide crucial support for hundreds of Colorado veterans to better prepare them to enter the workforce and grow Colorado’s economy. I’m proud to support programs like this that help provide assistance for those who have sacrificed so much.”
This competitive grant, issued as part of the Veterans Workforce Investment Program, will be used to assist veterans with reintegration into the private workforce and assist them in finding meaningful employment. The grant will apply to an estimated 570 honorably discharged veterans with service-connected disabilities, veterans who have significant barriers to employment, veterans who served on active duty in the armed forces during a war or in a campaign or expedition for which a campaign badge was authorized, and recently separated veterans within 48 months of discharge.
Udall, who serves on the Senate Armed Services Committee, has been a vocal advocate for supporting veterans.
