Purpose: To fund continued operation of the Rail Test Center at the Port of Tacoma.
Importance: The Port of Tacoma Intermodal Radiation Test Center is integral to developing technology to prevent illicit nuclear material from entering the country through port and rail access point. This funding will help develop better techniques to enhance cargo scanning abilities at points of entry into the United States.
