  7. Senator Shaheen and Senator Ayotte sent a letter today to President Obama in support of New Hampshire Governor John Lynch's request for a Disaster Declaration for the State of New Hampshire. The letter wrote:

    "Heavy rains and strong winds and gusts as high as 60 miles per hour in some locations caused extensive power outages and produced widespread debris, closing roads across the state. The Go...
    vernor responded quickly by declaring a state of emergency allowing numerous state resources to be immediately available to our citizens.

    Although the cleanup is now underway, the state will continue to feel the effects of this storm for weeks and even months to come. We urge you to grant the Governor's request for a Disaster Declaration immediately, so that our businesses and towns can access the assistance they need."
