Talking Book Topics is published bimonthly in cassette, large-print, and online formats and distributed at no cost to blind and physically handicapped individuals who participate in the Library of Congress reading program. It lists digital audiobooks and magazines available through a network of cooperating libraries and covers news of developments and activities in network library services.

The annotated list in this issue is limited to titles recently added to the national collection, which contains thousands of fiction and nonfiction titles, including bestsellers, classics, biographies, romance novels, mysteries, and how-to guides. Some books in Spanish are also available. Online education on diabetes and vision impairment

Pedestrian Safety Handbook updated

The American Council of the Blind (ACB) recently released an updated version of its Pedestrian Safety Handbook, originally published in 1999. The publication includes a guide to advocating for pedestrian safety improvements that discusses specific regulations. Case studies of successful efforts are included in an appendix. Hadley School launches blinded veterans initiative

The Hadley School for the Blind, in Winnetka, Illinois, is recruiting blinded veterans from across the country to enroll in its Adult Continuing Education Program. As part of the Blinded Veterans Initiative, veterans may receive free distance education on subjects such as business and entrepreneurship, independent living skills, and braille literacy. Affordable computers available for blind or visually impaired users

The Texas Center for the Visually Challenged (TCVC) offers refurbished computers to blind and visually impaired residents of the United States and Canada in exchange for $100 donations. Computers are customized for accessibility and come with speakers, a sound card, and a demo copy of the screen reader Window-Eyes, as well as audio and large-print tutorials. Accessible Sudoku game available from Perkins
