BEGINNER CAMERAS
$) Canon PowerShot ELPH 110 HS - $150 – This is a great first camera for those who have never shot video before. A lightweight, slim, and easily manageable point-and-shoot camera.
$$) Olympus PEN E-PL5 - $520 – Unfortunately, there’s no built-in flash on this guy, but it’s a great price for a piece of equipment that produces such high-quality material. Also very compact and easy to handle.
$$$) Sony NEX-5RK/B - $700 – Though still not quite at the level of a DSLR camera, it may as well be. Excellent quality image from this camera, and it gives your beginning filmmaker the option to experiment with detachable lenses, which is always exciting!
