The MacDowell Colony Centennial (1907-2007)

Edward MacDowell with wifeFounded by American composer Edward MacDowell and his wife Marian (pictured on the right) on their farm in Peterborough, New Hampshire, the MacDowell Colony has been fostering the careers of generations of artists, writers, and composers since 1907. Several MacDowell Colony fellows were featured in last season concerts—Richard Adams, Gena Branscombe, Elizabeth Brown, Elliott Schwartz, and Louise Talma.

Two concerts this fall wrap up the centennial celebration: one featuring composer-performer Fred Hersch (October 26) and an evening of choral works by Amy Beach, Aaron Copland, and Irving Fine (November 9).
