TechCamp Inspires Young People in North Africa

Three years ago at the Forum for the Future, Secretary Clinton announced the Civil Society 2.0 initiative, in Marrakech, Morocco. The program was created to help grassroots organizations around the world increase their digital literacy to share their stories, build their memberships and connect to their community of peers around the world. Today, the TechCamp program has become the cornerstone of this initiative by providing hands-on training to more than 1,200 organizations from 84 countries to date.

YES Study Abroad Program Celebrates 10th Anniversary

With the application deadline approaching in January, American high school students have the amazing opportunity to take the plunge, use their passport, and apply to the State Department's competitive merit-based Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Abroad program. This study abroad program gives promising American high school students an opportunity to push their boundaries and discover where study abroad can take them.

I was part of the YES Abroad class of 2009: one of 48 high school students from all walks of American culture to live with host families and study in local schools overseas. I spent my year in Mali learning French, making life-long friendships, and ultimately, discovering my passion.

On December 7, 2012, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton traveled to Belfast, Northern Ireland, where she met with Northern Ireland officials and discussed the peace process, the trilateral U.S.-Ireland Research and Development Partnership, and economic opportunities for Northern Ireland.

As soon as I stepped off the plane in Miami for my visit to our Media Hub of the Americas I sensed a certain dynamism. As I met with journalists, members of the business community, academics, and students during my visit, I found that this energy permeated throughout my meetings, as all were eager to engage to further strengthen the ties that bind the United States to Latin America.

The Hub of the Americas is a part of the Bureau of Public Affairs' network of six media hubs around the world; and it is the only hub located domestically. Public voting of the State Department's new blog name has begun! Click here to make your voice heard.

You can vote on the name until Friday, December 14. The result will be announced when the new blog launches in early 2013.

The official blog of the State Department launched in 2007 and has since become the main online platform where the Secretary and other senior Department leaders can discuss foreign policy issues. Since the blog's launch, it has amassed a following of thousands and its content is shared across the Department's flagship social media properties to reach an audience of millions.
