Snowe Congratulates Newly-Appointed SBA Associate Administrator Jeanne Hulit

Hulit to serve as the Associate Administrator for the SBA’s Office of Capital Access

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Olympia J. Snowe (R-Maine), Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, today congratulated Maine native Jeanne Hulit on recently being named the Small Business Administration’s (SBA) Associate Administrator for the Office of Capital Access. Hulit was elevated from her previous position as the SBA Region I Administrator (New England) where she had served since 2009. In June of 2009, Senator Snowe had recommended to the President that Hulit be selected as Regional Administrator.

In her new role, Administrator Hulit will manage and oversee the agency’s programs and operations that are designed to expand access to capital for America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners. These responsibilities include the agency’s loan and microloan programs, credit risk management, and financial programs operations centers. She will also be responsible for advising the SBA Administrator and overseeing, within the Office of Capital Access, the agency’s reforms to make it more responsive to both borrowers and lenders.

“I am pleased that Jeanne has been selected to serve as the Associate Administrator at the SBA’s Office of Capital Access,” Senator Snowe said. “This appointment is a testament to her tremendous qualifications and outstanding record in assisting small business as the SBA’s Region I Administrator, a position I was honored to recommend her for back in June of 2009. It is clear that Maine continues to demonstrate a strong talent for serving the small business community, and I am confident that Jeanne will follow in that tradition as head of the Office of Capital Access.”
