Selections from the Jan Velten AlbumThe collections of the Plantage Library, Library of the University of Amsterdam, include 135,000 volumes and 1,250 serials relating to the history of biology, ornithology, paleozoology, taxonomical zoology, zoos, zoostropical ecology, and related subjects. Also known as the Book of Blauw Jan and the Wonders of Nature, the Jan Velten album's full title is Wonders of Nature: In the Menagerie of Blaauw Jan in Amsterdam, as seen by Jan Velten around 1700. The volume depicts exotic animals that were brought from North America and displayed in the Blauw Jan Inn at that time. Selecties uit het Album van Jan VeltenDe collecties van de Plantage Bibliotheek van de Universiteit van Amsterdam omvatten circa 135.000 banden en 1.250 periodieken betreffende de geschiedenis van de biologie, ornithologie, paleozoölogie, taxonomische zoölogie, dierentuinen, tropische zoölogie en aanverwante terreinen. De volledige titel van het Album van Jan Velten is Wonderen der Natuur: in de menagerie van Blauw Jan te Amsterdam zoals gezien door Jan Velten rond 1700. Het boek is ook bekend als het Boek van Blauw Jan en als Wonderen der Natuur. Het boek beschrijft exotische dieren, die uit Noord-Amerika waren gehaald en te zien waren in de herberg van Blauw Jan.
