I own a tintype of this soldier's brother or friend. They were obviously taken at the same sitting probably seconds apart. They are holding similar weapons except my soldier has a large knife. Here is the link

Thanks for sharing your image. They definitely look to be taken at the same sitting and on the same set - and both soldiers appear to be part of Company K of a cavalry regiment. Very interesting! Do you have any other information about your daguerreotype you could share?
