Looks like it's at latitude 42.085962N, longitude 71.023417W

    eg maps.google.com/maps?f=l&hl=en&geocod e=&time=...

judging by the satellite photo, that building is still there.

  3. #4 (Meaghan) (60 months ago | reply)

It is still there. However the Building that photo was taken from is no longer there. It is a parking lot.

Still a store in that spot too.

Check it out in MSN live maps Warren Ave and Pleasant.

Enter "warren avenue and pleasent st, brockton, ma" into the MSN live maps, go to the birdseye view and you can see a nice shot of the building. It is the one on the right...

Thanks for the map info mfmcdougall and rrsafety, that was fun actually seeing that building as it is today.

I remember that little market on the corner of North Warren Avenue and Pleasant Street in Brockton. But more important -- to me -- is the building from which the shot was taken. As #4 (Meaghan) says, it's no longer there. But it was there after WWII, when my late stepfather came back from the South Pacific. It was a rooming house and he rented there.

Just a comment: the "7264" people see on the market's door is not its address. This is right at the start of North Warren Avenue, so it's number would be something like "10."

That "7264" -- actually, I think it's "7254" -- is an ad. I vaguely recall it as a brand of cigar, though I can't find anything on the Internet to confirm it.

7-20-4 was the name of the cigars
my grandfather, too, had a room in the building across the street

Thanks, Bill. 7-20-4 it is. See it clearly in the third image down on this page from Aubrey's Antiques.
