    The month and year of my birth in Chillicothe, Mo. My folks literally lived in a tarpaper shack. They moved to Norwalk, Ca. three months later. Thank you, folks! I don't like the cold at all, at all! My dad later worked in the war industry and in the merchan marine. My mom was one of thosee "Rosie the riviters" in Long Beach.

    I worked here part time while i was in high school in the 1960s. The news was still displayed on window posters at that time. The switchboard was right behind the window which I operated in the evenings. Otherwise I worked back in the shipping department bundling papers to be put on the delivery trucks.

    I was operating the switchboard when the blackout of 1965 happened. Very exciting since everyone calls the newspaper. The switchboard had a hand crank to ring the phones when the power was out. Lots of fun.
