As a contribution to education and scholarship, the Library of Congress offers
broad public access to its materials featured in The Atlantic World: America
and the Netherlands. The written permission of any copyright owners and/or
any other rights holders (such as for publicity and privacy rights) is required
for distribution, reproduction, or other use of protected items that extends beyond
fair use or other statutory exemptions.

The Koninklijke Bibliotheek (National Library of the Netherlands) encourages
use of its materials to the extent permitted under the fair
use clause of the 1976 Copyright Act, but asks that a credit line be included
with each image used. The American Memory Learning Page provides guidance
on fair use for teachers and classroom use. Otherwise, permission must
be requested and granted by the Koninklijke Bibliotheek before use. Please cite
the call number or reproduction number for the item if it is provided in the descriptive

KB Privacy Policy
The Atlantic World: America and the Netherlands is a collaborative digital project with National Library of the Netherlands (Koninklijke Bibliotheek, or KB). Materials and interpretive texts are stored on both the LC and KB servers. Using the LC site may at times direct you to the KB site.
KB policies regarding privacy and cookies differ from LC in the following ways:
- Temporary "session" cookies are used in the search process and to navigate the search results.
- Permanent cookies store the user's language preference while using the site for both the current and future visits.
- KB cookies do not track personally identifiable information. They may be used to log pages visited. This information is used only in aggregate form, such as counting the total number of visitors per page.

for some collection items. Orders are accepted by mail or by fax. To request reproductions:
