The following restrictions apply only to the Alfred Stieglitz Collection at the Library of Congress, which consists of 58 photographic prints taken by Stieglitz and donated or deposited by Georgia O’Keeffe in 1949. This includes the three portraits of O’Keeffe that were on deposit until purchased from The Georgia O’Keeffe Foundation in 1999. The Foundation disbanded in 2006, but the terms of the agreement remain in effect.

Access: Subject to P&P policy on serving originals.

Reproduction (photocopying, hand-held camera copying, photoduplication and other forms of copying allowed by "fair use"): Subject to P&P policy on copying.

Publication and other forms of distribution: According to the requirements set out by Georgia O’Keeffe and The Georgia O’Keeffe Foundation,

(1) Reproduction for commercial purposes is prohibited. This includes but is not limited to “printing on two-dimensional supports such as books, note cards, postcards, or pages in calendars” as well as “printing on three-dimensional supports including but not limited to items such as aprons, tee shirts, plates, playing cards, magnets, paper cubes, ties, and shopping bags.”

(2) For non-commercial purposes, “the reproduction shall not be cropped or altered in any way, printed in the gutter, having any printing set over the image, shall not bleed to the edges, or wrapped around the outside covers of a book. The work must have a white border of an appropriate size. Every reproduction shall be done in a tasteful and professional manner consistent with the artistic legacy of Georgia O’Keeffe.”

Exception: The three portraits of Georgia O’Keeffe need the special credit line. The call numbers for these portraits are: PH – Stieglitz (A.), no. 18, no. 19, and no. 23. The credit line for these items should be : Library of Congress, Prints & Photographs Division, The Alfred Stieglitz Collection, Purchase and Gift of The Georgia O'Keeffe Foundation Purchase, [reproduction number, e.g., LC-USZ62-123456].
