Status: LC ILS (Integrated Library System)

In March, 2002 the LC upgraded the ILS to Voyager 2000.1.3. On July 1, 2002 LC implemented Library of Congress Authorities, making LC authority records available via the Web at this address: authorities.loc.gov. The Library continues to work with our ILS vendor, Endeavor Information Systems, Inc., to improve system performance. LC expects to expand the number of simultaneous external users by the end of 2003.

The LC ILS primary database (LC Database) resides on a Sun E10000 server and includes 13 million bibliographic records, approximately 13 million holdings records, over 14 million item records, approximately 5.8 million authority records, data for circulation and acquisitions transactions, over 30,000 vendor records, ledgers, funds, tables, and keyword and other searchable indexes. In addition to the LC Database, the Handbook of Latin American Studies (HLAS) is accessible from the LC Online Catalog. The Library of Congress Online Catalog is available at: catalog.loc.gov.

The Library of Congress Online Catalog or LC Online Catalog presents to users data from the LC Database for all formats with associated holdings and item records, as well as references and scope notes from authority records.

Library of Congress Online Catalog
The Library of Congress Online Catalog ( http://catalog.loc.gov/ ) is a database of approximately 12 million records representing books, serials, computer files, manuscripts, cartographic materials, music, sound recordings, and visual materials in the Library's collections. The Online Catalog also provides references, notes, circulation status, and information about materials still in the acquisitions stage.
