• Foreign Newspapers Currently Received by the Library of Congress available by request in the Newspaper and Current Periodical Reading Room.
• Self-Service Daily Papers available out in the Newspaper and Current Periodical Reading Room.
• Full Text Newspapers & Journals (available only within the Library of Congress)

b. Historical collections, microfilm:

• Chronological Lists of US newspaper microfilm holdings (1940-1989).
• Eighteenth Century American Newspapers in the Library of Congress. Microfilm, if we have it, is listed at the bottom of the record.
• Self-Service Newspaper Microfilm available out in the Newspaper and Current Periodical Reading Room.
  Not available on Interlibrary Loan due to Reading Room demand.

c. Historical collections, bound volumes:

• 19th & 20th Century U.S. Newspapers in Original Format: Inventory of Volumes Held in Remote Storage
• 19th & 20th Century Foreign Newspapers in Original Format: Inventory of Volumes Held in Remote Storage
• Eighteenth Century American Newspapers in the Library of Congress.

Library of Congress newspaper holdings are available from the Library of Congress Catalog.

If you find yourself viewing raw MARC catalog records (with numbered fields), please note the following:

1. The 362 field gives the dates a newspaper was in publication, NOT the holdings of the Library of Congress.
2. If the 050 field has a number like 7256X, it usually means we have only a few loose issues of the title. The X means the paper is stored a large paper folder known as a portfolio. Portfolios usually contain only a few single issues.
