May 20 - September 4, 1999

This husband-and-wife design team changed the face of America with their innovation and invention. The Work of Charles and Ray Eames: A Legacy of Invention, the first of the Library of Congress Bicentennial exhibitions, used a variety of media--from furniture and films to photographs and document--to tell the story of the century’s most influential designers, whose creations of such everyday items as molded wood and plastic chairs are instantly recognizable.

The Work of Charles and Ray Eames: A Legacy of Invention at the Library of Congress traveled to other venues across the country. For an overview and complete schedule of this traveling exhibit, visit www.loc.gov/exhibits/eames/overview.html.
