      Thanks for supplying her full name. She does, indeed, seem to have been in the news in 1915, when she was heading up England's women's volunteer reserves (a version of the photo, credited to Underwood & Underwood, appears in Evening Public Ledger (Philadelphia), for April 3, 1915, seen via the Historic American Newspaper site, Chronicling America: chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/lccn/sn83045211/19 15-04-03/ed-... ).

      I tried to find a photo of her that included her first name; the only portrait I found with that information is in a bookplate in our holdings (only a small image displays outside the Library of Congress buildings because of rights considerations): www.loc.gov/pictures/item/2009632793/
