Former Minnesota governor and presidential contender Tim Pawlenty (R) visited the White House Thursday to discuss fiscal issues with senior administration officials.

A White House official confirmed that Pawlenty was in the West Wing Thursday morning, although he was not scheduled to meet with President Obama.

Pawlenty is now the chief executive of the Financial Services Roundtable, a lobbying organization that represents the nation’s largest banks, insurers and financial-service providers.

Pawlenty was at the White House to talk about fiscal issues, according to the official, but no other information was available. Pawlenty has made his views on the negotiations over the “fiscal cliff” public in recent days, lamenting on a public panel that the White House has cornered House Republicans.
