Uncivil Wars: Elena Garro, Octavio Paz and the Battle for Cultural Memory in Mexico. Co-sponsored by the Hispanic Cultural Society and the Poetry and Literature Center of the Library of Congress.
A talk by Professor Sandra M. Cypess. Professor Cypess, University of Maryland, will discuss the lives of two celebrated literary figures who wrote about many of the same experiences and contributed to the formation of Mexican national identity but were judged quite differently, primarily because of gender.
