Collection Overview

Islamic Manuscripts from Mali features 22 manuscripts from the Mamma Haidara Commemorative Library and the Library of Cheick Zayni Baye of Boujbeha, both in Timbuktu, Mali. These items show a variety of Arabic script and provide a variety of items that document the culture and activities of the society. Created sometime during the 16th-18th centuries, some of the items included are political documents, stories, philosophical discussions, and information on curing diseases.
