The researcher is cautioned that the majority of newspapers held by the Library of Congress are NOT indexed. This is a list of those printed indexes we do have. See Online Newspaper Indexes for major sources of computerized newspaper archives and indexes.

The order of this compilation goes from general to specific. Indexes of a general nature are listed first. Next are those that pertain specifically to states or countries.

The format of each entry follows a printed catalog card, including classification number and an indication of the years we have in the Newspaper and Current Periodical Reading Room.

Standard library and postal abbreviations are used throughout.
