How are public water systems within the 200 mile range of the Deepwater Horizon disaster being protected from dispersants and/or sheen that is evaporated and rained back into public waters? in Pensacola, the public water system site is less than a mile from Pensacola Bay, in fact across the street from the water. Is there a site that could assist the public in knowing how to protect themselves from exposure. I did observe the APHA site, but feel even less comforted after reading the material.
Thanks for your efforts,

I live in the French Quarter in Louisiana, not far from the gulf.
I live in New Orleans and I wanted to do a poster that speaks from the heart about the
devastating effects, and real possibilities, connected with the oil spill.
This is the result..

This is an SOS call for the Gulf Coast from Chat Sue, a retired UWF professor and from the Save the Sands organization:
Even if the BP oil spill stops gushing and its effects controlled, our area will never be the same, our "utopia" is lost. But if we care about out kids and grandkids, we need to band together and demand these things:
1. A tax break at the gas tank, a hefty $2 per gallon reduction, effective immediately, all along the Gulf Coast region. This will help those left unemployed by this spill like shrimpers and fishermen, former energy workers and others in hospitality and housing related fields.
2. Free connectivity via high speed broad band internet access throughout the region, from Louisiana to Jacksonville, Florida. This will help small business and others get back on their feet and communicate throughout the region.
3. To help us to get off our intoxication with oil and gas, we want a renewed focus on alternatives such as wind power and electric cars.
4. Instant assessment and formulation of trial runs for the Gulf Coast to be the site of a high speed rail system, running from New Orleans to Panama City, and a connection between Mobile and Atlanta too.
5. To promote long range focus on sustainability and a move towards environmentalism, we demand that all schools and colleges in the Gulf Coast states start focusing on programs that focus on such things as environmental engineering and science, as well as those that promote learning about wind power, marine life and restoration, wetlands research, and studying the effects of the oil spill on our economy, our ecology, and on our mental health. And every educational system, from k-12, to colleges would also be tasked to work on ways to bring about a green approach in every community, as well as special focus on environmental engineering and sciences, on bioremediation work, for example, all pointing towards making our region more sustainable.
I believe Mr. Chat Sue has some great ideas in this brief. I hope all stakeholders will conceed that these measures will bring relief to a badly damaged economy on the Gulf Coast.
