Terms and Conditions of the E-Gift Certificate Program

  1. Gift certificates and unused portions of gift certificates expire one year from the date of issuance, which is the expiration date included on the gift certificate.
  2. Gift certificates must be redeemed through the Library of Congress Shop and used only toward the purchase of items appearing on the site.
  3. Gift certificates cannot be used to purchase gift certificates.
  4. Gift certificates are not redeemable for cash and cannot be returned for a cash refund.
  5. Any unused balance will be placed in the recipient's gift certificate account and is not transferable.
  6. If the recipient's order exceeds the amount of the gift certificate, he/she must pay the balance with a credit card.
  7. Gift certificates and their use on the Library of Congress Shop site are subject to the locimages general privacy policy.
  8. The Library of Congress is not responsible for any lost or stolen gift certificates. If you have any questions, please contact us at retail@loc.gov.
  9. The Library of Congress has the right to close customer accounts and request alternative forms of payment if a fraudulently obtained gift certificate are redeemed through the loc.gov/shop web site.
  10. The Library of Congress makes no warranties, express or implied, with respect to gift certificates, including without limitation, any express or implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. In the event a gift certificate code is non-functional, your sole remedy, and our sole liability, shall be the replacement of such gift certificate. Certain state laws do not allow limitations on implied warranties or the exclusion or limitation of certain damages. If these laws apply to you, some or all of the above disclaimers, exclusions, or limitations may not apply to you, and you might have additional rights.
  11. The Library of Congress reserves the right to change these terms and conditions at any time at its sole discretion.
