Morristown (2007), with filmmaker Anne Lewis [read bio]
Morristown documents the impact of corporate globalization, free trade and immigration policy on working people's lives. In locations as far apart as the mountaints of east Tennessee and interior Mexico and Ciudad Juarez and in places ranging from factories to fields to union halls to stores and employment agencies, working people speak directly to the camera about their lives, work and dreams. The film explores the phenomenon of factory flight out of Morristown, Tennessee as well as the forces that cause immigration out of interior Mexico. It also documents Morristown poultry workers' efforts to organize to address their problems, a struggle that culminates with a union victory at a large processing plant in the city.
