The John W. Kluge Center accommodates post-doctoral Fellows pursuing resident research, usually for periods from six to twelve months. Interdisciplinary and cross-cultural topics of a kind normally not encouraged in specialized departmental settings are welcome. Selection of a diverse group of Fellows is by various competitions. Post-doctoral Fellows have an opportunity to discuss their research with the Kluge Scholars and to explore possibilities for intellectual collaboration with other Fellows.

All applicants and candidates for Kluge Center fellowships must be Visa and/or payment eligible in order to receive a Library of Congress appointment. The rules and the variations for Visa and payment eligibility are determined on a case-by-case basis. Baruch S. Blumberg NASA/Library of Congress Chair in Astrobiology (Application deadline, extended to December 17, 2012.)
The Blumberg Astrobiology Chair will conduct research at the intersection of the science of astrobiology and its humanistic aspects, particularly its societal implications.

Jack Kemp Chair in Political Economy (Application deadline postponed.  Please check back later.)
The Kemp Scholar position is made possible by the generous donations of the Jack Kemp Foundation for research on an aspect of political economy and "The American Idea."

Henry A. Kissinger Chair in Foreign Policy and International Relations (Application deadline, November 1 of each year.)
Made possible by generous donations of many friends and admirers of Dr. Kissinger, the Kissinger Scholar is one part of a wider Kissinger Chair Program that supports a range of activities in the study of foreign policy and international relations.

Distinguished Chairs (Appointed.)
The Kluge Chairs are unique in Washington, D.C. Designed for people of great scholarly accomplishment, they are chosen solely for their intellectual and communicative abilities by the Librarian of Congress in consultation with a distinguished Scholars Council.

Kluge Fellowships (Application deadline, July 15 of each year.)
The Library of Congress invites qualified scholars to conduct research in the Congress collections and resources for a period of up to eleven months.

David B. Larson Fellowship in Health and Spirituality (Application deadline, April 17 of each year.)
The Library of Congress invites qualified scholars to apply for a post-doctoral fellowship in the field of health and spirituality. Made possible by a generous endowment from the International Center for the Integration of Health and Spirituality (ICIHS).

Kislak Fellowship in American Studies (Application deadline, October 15 of each year.)
The Library of Congress' Kluge Center invites qualified scholars to apply for a post-doctoral fellowship for advanced research based on the Kislak Collection.

Kislak Short-Term Fellowship for the Study of the History and Cultures of the Early Americas (Application deadline postponed.  Please check back later.)
The Library of Congress offers short-term fellowships for independent scholars, undergraduate and college and university faculty to conduct research based on items from the Kislak Collection.

J. Franklin Jameson Fellowship Research in American History (Deadline past.)
The Franklin Jameson Fellowship in American History is offered annually by the Library of Congress and the American Historical Association to support significant scholarly research for one semester in the collections of the Library of Congress by scholars at an early stage in their careers in history.

Cary and Ann Maguire Chair in Ethics and American History (Deadline past.)
The Cary and Ann Maguire Chair in Ethics and American History was established to explore the history of America with special attention to the ethical dimensions of domestic economic, political, and social policies.

Alan Lomax Fellowship in Folklife Studies (Application deadline, March 31, 2012.)
