Business Reading Room

The Business of Baseball

This guide, compiled in 2005, provides resources on the major league baseball business in the United States. It does not include the minor league, Olympic, college, or amateur baseball market.

Manuscript Reading Room

Branch Rickey: A Register of His Papers in the Library of Congress

Correspondence, family papers, speeches and writings, memoranda, scouting and other reports, notes, subject files, scrapbooks, and other papers, chiefly from 1936 to 1965, documenting Branch Rickey's career as a major league baseball manager and executive.

Jackie Robinson: A Register of His Papers in the Library of Congress

Includes correspondence, fan mail, financial and legal records, drafts of speeches and writings, printed matter, newspaper clippings, and miscellaneous items relating to Jackie Robinson as the first African American to play major league baseball in the twentieth century and to various business and civic activities following his baseball career, including his service as a corporate executive and his participation in the civil rights movement, religious and humanitarian organizations, broadcast and media affairs, and politics.

Music Division

Bibliography of Published Baseball Music and Songs in the Collections of the Music Division at the Library of Congress

Contains a listing of over 400 musical works and songs related to baseball. Many of the references include links to digital versions of the items. A collection of 146 pieces of baseball sheet music can also be found through the Performing Arts Encyclopedia.
