Other Resources on Patsy T. Mink

Originally compiled and published in slightly different form by the Congresswoman Patsy T. Mink Commission, a Hawaii state commission whose members included a Library of Congress representative. At the end of its term in December 2009, the Commission authorized the transfer of some of its Web site content from the Hawaii Department of Accounting and General Services to the Library of Congress and other entities.

Ahead of the Majority is a one-hour documentary that explores the life and times of the late U.S. Representative Patsy Takemoto Mink (1927-2002), the first woman of color in Congress and driving force behind Title IX, the landmark legislation that mandated gender equity in education.

Hawaii State Public Library System (HSPLS) External link
The HSPLS consists of 51 public libraries throughout the State of Hawaii, on all major islands. At these libraries, one can find a wealth of information about Patsy T. Mink in books, magazines, newspapers and other sources. One can search the online catalog and request items from other branch libraries free of charge. A “General Keyword” search for Patsy Mink lists numerous items about the former congresswoman. A periodicals search reveals additional sources, a number of them accompanied by the full text of the articles. One may also search the indexes to the Honolulu Advertiser and Honolulu Star Bulletin, the major local newspapers in the state.
