The Performing Arts Reading Room serves
books, scores (printed and manuscript), periodicals, and special
collections materials in the Music Division, as well as special
collections and limited reference materials in the subjects
of theater and dance. Sound and video materials are in the
custody of the Recorded
Sound Section of the Motion
Picture, Broadcasting and Recorded Sound Division. |
LOCATION:

Madison Building, Room LM 113 on the first floor (entrance
on Independence Avenue, between First and Second Streets, S.E.,
Washington, D.C.). Map. |
HOURS:
|
Open Monday - Saturday 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Closed
Federal holidays.) Requests are taken only until 4:15
p.m.
Note: Recorded
Sound Reference Center (Motion Picture, Broadcasting
and Recorded Sound)
is not open on Saturday. |

Identification card (may be obtained in the Room LM 140,
on the
first floor of the Madison Building).

ACCESS:

Certain rules and regulations apply to the general use of
the collections of the Performing Arts Reading Room. Additional
restrictions may apply to specific materials. Unprocessed collections
are not available without written permission from the Chief
of the Music Division.
Some rare items may not be available on Saturdays. |
