Speaker Biography: Marc Levinson is an economist and historian whose professional life has centered on disentangling complex economic issues. He was senior fellow for international business at the Council on Foreign Relations. He spent a decade as an economist at J.P. Morgan Chase. Earlier, he had a long career in journalism, serving as finance and economics editor of The Economist and as a writer on business and economics at Newsweek. In addition to writing for many leading publications, he is author of five books. "The Box: How the Shipping Container Made the World Smaller and the World Economy Bigger" was praised as one of the best business books of 2006 for showing how a seemingly simple invention helped reshape the world economy by driving down the cost of freight.
