Richardson and acquired from his widow Julia by Henry Ernest Bothin in April 1910.

      Apparently the Santa Barbara Tea Fire in 2008 started on the grounds at Piranhurst, where there was a famous tea garden.

      is another photo of the open air theater -- which is captioned "from the stage", so may be it's in the opposite direction from this one which says "to outdoor theater stage."

      An "urban hiker" provides some history about Piranhurst.

      shows that actor Gene Hackman sold Piranhurst in 1985. It was bought by Texas billionaire Harold Clark Simmons.

      According to this, the gardens were heavily damaged in a 1925 earthquake, then rebuilt.
