SVG Open 2012

The 10th annual SVG Open conference will be held in Zurich, Switzerland, the location of the first SVG Open. This is an international conference dedicated to Scalable Vector Graphics, and it will take place September 11 to 14, 2012. This is a great place to learn about SVG, and to showcase your SVG talents, to meet the SVG Working Group and the implementers of SVG, and to talk with other designers and developers.

The 10th anniversary edition of the SVG Open conference will be the last "traditional" edition of the conference series. At the same time it will be the first edition of a new conference series called “The Graphical Web”, which will showcase not only SVG, but technologies like the Canvas API, WebGL, CSS, Javascript, and HTML5 video and audio.

CSS-SVG Effects Task Force Started

The CSS and SVG Working groups have started a joint task force to discuss and develop mutual features such as gradients, transforms, filters, and animation. The aim is to specify a coherent underlying model with alternative syntaxes and syntactic sugar, for ease of implementation and authoring. For more details, see the FX TF home page.
