The Inventory is useful to scholars who wish 1) to determine which collections in the U.K. are relevant to their research needs, and 2) to get a preliminary idea of the range of documents within the collections identified. (The documents themselves must be consulted at the repositories in the U.K.) Over a hundred different repositories, including libraries, record offices, museums, and private collections have contributed copies of their finding aids to the project.

Transcripts of 45 full-length interviews with jazz musicians and 182 summaries of interviews, based on the holdings of the William Ransom Hogan Jazz Archive. The Archive's collection mainly consists of oral history interviews. These interviews and summaries provide a view of jazz as seen by musicians who developed it as a musical form. Subjects and themes discussed include the development of jazz music for musical instruments, acceptance of jazz as a musical form, social conditions of musicians, and profiles of great jazz players.

Interviews are arranged alphabetically by the name of the memoirist, giving the corresponding reel number.

Hollywood is represented by sketches from Charles LeMaire, Edith Head, Walter Plunkett, and Irene, among others. Costume designs from major productions such as Finian's Rainbow, The Egyptian, St. Louis Woman, and Sea of Grass exemplify the designers' work. Actresses shown in costume include Betty Grable, Katherine Hepburn, and Gene Tierney. The collection may benefit designers and students who study costume and fashion.

Lists New Zealand cemetery transcriptions held by the New Zealand Society of Genealogists Inc. as of 1988. Transcriptions consist mainly of headstone inscriptions and burial records of church, public, and private cemeteries. Some public memorials are included. Arrangement is geographical by district north to south making the search of a complete district possible. Districts are divided into counties and cemeteries are listed in alphabetical order within the county. Also includes composite transcriptions, usually newspaper extracts or monumentalists' records, covering a wider area than a county. No overall index of people buried in New Zealand exists but each transcription has a name index. The set includes some sketches and pictures.

More than 3,500 documents totaling some 13,000 pages recording U.S. involvement in and relations with the Sandinista Revolution, from the overthrow of Somoza, through the advent of the U.S.-sponsored Contras, to the electoral defeat of the revolutionary government. Some of the documents were obtained from the Iran- Contra hearings and other public sources. Many were previously classified. They include background papers, chronologies, intelligence appraisals, situation reports, press briefings and releases, biographical sketches, texts of hearings, cables between the State Department and the U.S. embassy in Nicaragua, and Contra generated documents.

A color reproduction of Northwest Coast artifacts held by the Museum of Mankind, London. Although the sharpness of the images in this 35-fiche set is not perfect, it is still an absorbing, useful representation of nearly 1,500 objects of stone, ivory, bone, wood, leather, and fiber-woven utensils, implements, clothing, effigies and furnishings collected mainly between 1800 and 1875. Many of the objects display the unique design and intricate carving that pay tribute to indigenous artistry.
