Enlisting in the Army in February, 1942, Patricino Gabaldon was schooled in tank warfare at three U.S. training camps before being shipped overseas to support the invasion of North Africa. A recipient of a Purple Heart and three Bronze Stars, Sergeant Gabaldon is credited with successfully defending against the first German tank to attack his battalion in Sicily.
